The legendary Benz 300SD was only produced in US & Canada. I feel in love these the older diesel Mercs when James May drove one across Africa on a epic two part series. Only 78,725 300SD’s of these were every produced from 1980-1985. This was this only chassis that Mercedes used the 3.0 liter, inline-five cylinder, turbo diesel engine (OM617) – the older models were pushing 119 hp @ 4350 rpm, torque 170 lb⋅ft @ 2400 rpm – after August 1984 they bumped up to a respectable 123 hp @ 4350 rpm, torque 184 lb ft @ 2400 rpm.
